I’ve just been admitted by the Chartered Governance Institute of SA as an Associate member! You’ll now see me using the professional accreditation ACG (CS) behind my name.
This means that I:
- Passed six Board exams between 2020 and 2022, some with distinction
- As part of an international qualifying programme
- Achieving the professional status of a Chartered Company Secretary, and
- Have “officially” worked in the governance space for 5 years after roles as exec and non-exec director.
“Membership of the Institute evidences not merely academic qualifications but character, integrity and the personal good standing required in the field of governance.” **
Over the last few years, I’ve been quiet in the public social media space. Like many, I experienced turbulence and loss. I learned to keep on keeping on. And I’ve tried to pitch up every day with what I can contribute.
And that’s the relevance of the tree photo.
Look through the leaves, and you’ll see a messy nest. That nest is a story of resilience. The sparrows that built this nest in a tree in our garden have created not one, but 5 or 6 nests in the same place. As each nest was destroyed, they found new twigs, new strands of grass, and built another one.
The sparrow family kept on keeping on. They kept building.
I’ve been building my skills, experience, and knowledge of how to run an ethical business. Through good compliance, good risk management, and good governance.
Now MGK (that’s me!) & Associates (the partners I bring along when needed) is open to new clients. Let’s build well-governed, ethical businesses together.
